Transforming the two-story 1889 Melbourne terrace from a tired 1970s renovation to a luxurious, sophisticated, modern family home was both a challenging and rewarding project for Studio 103. Working within the boundaries of a heritage overlay, Park House’s striking makeover is a harmonious balance between old and new. The goal was to celebrate the original architecture and key features whilst delivering modern enhancements such as opening up the living and entertainment spaces. The thoughtful addition of natural materials that could age with the house over time also played a key role in the elegant end result.
Simplicity was crucial to highlight Park House’s nineteenth century proportions and to deliver a restoration that will enable Park House’s character shine through for another 100 years.
