The original Native Title Services Victoria office was set over two levels, across two separate buildings. 40 staff, working in five small teams, were disconnected, hidden away in pockets across the two buildings.
The brief for the new build was to bring staff together, creating meeting points for interaction and connection. Key to the brief was the creation of a tranquil and soothing environment, due to the stressful and pressured nature of work undertaken by NTSV.
The brief was met on a shoe-string budget. Calming aqua and blue tones flow throughout, connecting the spaces. Exposed brick, natural rope and feature lighting provide earthy-hued accents and give a down-to-earth feel, in keeping with the philosophy of the staff.
The breakout space taps into the buzzing café culture of the North Melbourne location, tipping its hat to the ‘coffee bar’.
